Today, May 7th, is the 64th annual National Day of Prayer. The theme for 2015 is Lord, Hear Our Prayer, which is highlighted by this verse from 1 Kings: ?Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day (1 Kings 8:28).?
Across the country, millions of people will be gathering to pray at thousands of events. It is an opportunity for individuals to place their faith in God?s unfailing character and recognize the Lord?s sovereign power over all governments, authorities, and men. It is also a unique glimpse of the unity of God?s people and the healing and restoring power of prayer.
The National Day of Prayer Task Force has a number of resources available as well as more information about national and regional events in your area. At noon (EDT), Dr. Jack Graham will lead a special prayer to be simultaneously read across the nation. We hope you?ll join in with millions of Americans on this special day.

John Bornschein, the Vice-Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, co-authored this book as a practical field guide for exploring the depth and power of a life marked by?prayer. It explores prayer from every angle?from its basic elements to the obstacles that hold people back. He and his co-authors draw on a variety of perspectives, giving you inspirational stories, tools, and resources to help you gain a greater understanding of the number one weapon in spiritual warfare: prayer.
Here?s what Bornschein has to say about the amazing power of prayer:
“An incredible connection is formed between believers and the heavenly Father during prayer. This connection is something that intersects the physical with the spiritual and goes far beyond human comprehension. The ability for humankind to speak in the throne room of the Almighty is awesome in and of itself. But the fact that God in all of His splendor, will stop and listen intently to our every word, as if nothing could be more important to Him at that moment, is truly breathtaking. God desires relationship with us, and our dialogue with Him through prayer is where He reveals the deepest characteristics of His nature. In the book of Philippians, the Apostle Paul reminds us that our determined purpose is to become more deeply and intimately acquainted with God. There is great power in this fellowship.”
