The Evangelical Biblical Theology Commentary (EBTC) series reveals how every passage in the Bible fits into God’s drama of redemption—and the role you play in his story today. Scholarly exegesis, biblical theology, and life application come together in a new commentary series on every book of the Bible.
A divine plot told through human stories
The first three volumes in the series were originally published by B&H Publishing in the Biblical Theology for Christian Proclamation commentary series. Those three existing volumes will be joined by three brand new volumes in the initial wave of six—all releasing by Summer 2021.
With a fresh new look and a refined scope, the EBTC promises to deliver scholarly commentaries that combine exegetical analysis with theological insights.
Exegesis, meet biblical theology
The EBTC helps you understand the meaning of a biblical passage through careful exegetical analysis. But unlike other commentaries, it also reveals the theology within the text, connecting it to themes developed from Genesis to Revelation.
See the old, old story with new eyes
The books, stories, poems, letters, and laws in Scripture have unique theological themes. As you examine those ideas with the EBTC, you’ll see how they all come together to form a unified mosaic of God’s redemption, and you’ll discover a theology you can live out, every day.
Connect the living Word to daily life
The EBTC is for pastors who want their listeners to understand the story arc of the Bible. It’s for parents who know each passage is useful for teaching—but aren’t sure how to teach Leviticus to an eight-year-old. It’s for any Christian who wants to understand how the biblical story from Genesis to Revelation connects to their daily life.

It seems the authors and the general editors are the same of the Biblical Theology for Christian Proclamation (B&H Academic). Has the BTCP series been acquired by Lexham Press and rebranded as EBTC?
Yes, Lexham acquired the rights to the Biblical Theology for Christian Proclamation commentary series from B&H. The three volumes that were published in the BTCP are being republished as part of the EBTC, but the rest of the volumes will be all new.
