Three Lexham Press Titles Selected as Finalists for 2020 Christian Book Awards

on April 1, 2020

Yesterday, the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) released its 2020 Christian Book Award finalists, and we’re excited to share that three of our titles have been selected as finalists!

The Care of Souls: Cultivating a Pastor’s Heart is a finalist in the Ministry Resources category.

Drawing on a lifetime of pastoral experience from author Hal Senkbeil, The Care of Souls is a beautifully written treasury of proven wisdom which pastors will find themselves turning to again and again.

The Care of Souls has already won two book awards, a 2020 Christianity Today Book Award for Church/Pastoral Leadership and it was named the 2019 TGC Ministry Book of the Year.

“One of the best books I’ve ever read on the craft of pastoring.”

—Tim Challies, author, blogger, pastor

“An enormously helpful work.”

—Michael A. G. Haykin, Professor of Church History and Biblical Theology, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Servant of All: Reframing Greatness and Leadership through the Teachings of Jesus is also a finalist in the Ministry Resources category.

In a culture where greatness is often confused with fame or competence, Ralph E. Enlow Jr. provides a much-needed correction in Servant of All.

Much of the practical, theoretical, and even theological commentary on servant leadership doesn’t do the Bible justice. It fails to account for the context and history of interpretation around the often-quoted saying of Jesus, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, the servant of all” (Mark 9:35). This context has everything to do with a truly biblical understanding of servant leadership, and that’s what Servant of All unfolds.

“A thoughtful, practical, and penetrating look at leadership.”

—David S. Dockery, President, Trinity International University/Trinity Evangelical Divinity School

“A welcome alternative to the reductionism of a sound bite leadership culture.”

—Steve Moore, President, nexleader

The Theology of Benedict XVI: A Protestant Appreciation is a finalist in the Bible Reference Works category.

Edited by Tim Perry, this “astonishing volume of essays” helps both Protestants and Catholics alike appreciate the theological legacy of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Fifteen prominent Protestant minds express their admiration for Benedict’s views on the threads that tie reason and faith and how this connection contributes to the pursuit of truth in today’s church.

“An astonishing volume of essays: articulate, frank, insightful, and suffused with fraternal respect.”

—Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Philadelphia

“An exercise in ecumenical theology at its best.”

—Timothy George, founding dean of Beeson Divinity School of Samford University
