The Theopolis Institute and Lexham Press are pleased to announce the third round of the James B. Jordan Prize to honor outstanding doctoral dissertations in biblical theology. James Jordan is one of the most insightful biblical scholars of our time. The Jordan Prize exists to encourage more of the deep Scriptural investigation of which Jordan is a master.
Dissertations from students whose doctoral degree is awarded during the 2022-2023 academic year will be eligible for consideration.
Successful submissions must meet the highest standards of contemporary research and writing, must be recommended in writing by a dissertation supervisor or committee member, and, most important, must be largely exegetical explorations of the symbolic, typological, literary, or allegorical dimensions of the Bible.
Three cash prizes will be awarded: The author of the prizewinning dissertation will be awarded $1000; second place will win $500, and third place $250. If feasible, the Jordan Prize dissertation will be published in Lexham Press’s Studies in Scripture and Biblical Theology.
The members of the review panel are: Dr. Peter J. Leithart (chair), Rev. Jeffery Meyers, Dr. Alastair Roberts, Dr. Derek R. Brown (Lexham Press), and, if necessary, a specialist in the field of the dissertation.
Dissertations must be submitted by July 1, 2023 to Emma Thompson (eleithart@theopolisinstitute.com). The Jordan Prize winners will be announced and awarded in January 2024.
